Stephanie Merritt graduated in English from Queens' College Cambridge in 1996.

She has worked as a critic and feature writer for various publications including The Times, the Daily Telegraph, the New Statesman, Arena, the TLS, Zembla and Die Welt, and since 1998 has been Deputy Literary Editor and a staff writer at The Observer.

Writing under the pseudonym SJ Parris, Stephanie is the bestselling author of Prophecy and Heresy. Her historical thrillers follow the renegade monk, philosopher and heretic Giordano Bruno, as he uncovers dark mysteries and plots in Elizabethan England.
