Helen Thomas is Editor-at-Large for Hachette Children's Group, having previously worked for Scholastic and Walker Books. She focuses on acquiring award-winning and bestselling middle-grade, teen and YA fiction. In the last couple of years, books Helen commissioned have won or been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, Blue Peter Award, Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, Carnegie Medal and Amnesty CILIP Honour. In 2018, Hachette announced Bellatrix, a new collection of gripping, powerful and diverse YA novels by leading female writers. The list aims to find and give voice some of the millions of untold, mist-told or unheard women’s voices in literature and in life. The first two Bellatrix titles are written by Kit de Waal (BECOMING DINAH) and Kiran Millwood Hargrave (THE DEATHLESS GIRLS), both launch in 2019. Before entering the publishing industry, Helen completed the publishing program at Columbia University in New York and is now a faculty member at the course’s UK equivalent based at Oxford University. Alongside her publishing career, Helen is a transpersonal psychotherapist in her fifth (and final) year of training.
