Bodice-rippers. Aga Sagas. ChickLit. Fiction by women dominates global bestseller lists yet female authors’ output is consistently undervalued—literally. One study found that books by women are priced 45% lower than those by men. Women feature in fewer prize shortlists and, with some notable exceptions including this festival, on podiums.
